MUSIC IS A MORAL LAW,
IT GIVES SOUL TO THE UNIVERSE
WINGS TO THE MIND.
FLIGHT TO THE IMAGINATION
A CHARM TO SADNESS
GAIETY AND LIFE TO EVERYTHING.
IT IS THE ESSENCE
OF ORDER AND LENDS TO ALL
THAT IS GOOD,JUST, AND BEAUTIFUL.

A couple of weeks ago, I went to a Two Piano Recital in the local Cathedral. I listened to two very competent Pianists play works I knew well on two Piano's made by Yamaha.

Although the technical prowess of both Pianists was impressive, I was disappointed at the interpretation...mainly because of the incredibly fast tempi which they chose!!

Now it's true that the speed at which Musical Works are played these days is close to double the speed felt to be appropriate 20 years ago....but this was ' over the top'"! It was made worse for myself personally by the fact that they used Yamaha Pianos.

Although Yamaha claim to make their Concert Grand Pianos out of the finest materials, they still sound more like a Digital instrument in my experience.

I remember going to the Piano shop in Nice a few years ago and playing a Yamaha and then a Steinway....both Concert Grands. There was absolutely no comparison......the texture and quality of sound and the sensitivity of touch were exquisite in the Steinway but I could not truthfully make the same claims of the Yamaha.

Needless to mention, I left the Concert at the Interval somewhat depressed at the domination of Technology and alll that has follwed in it's wake!!

BUT.. where would we Composers be without it? In order to present a Work to a Publisher or prospective Performer, one must produce a Professional Printed Score!! One can only do that on a first class Software!! You see.....'.The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea '

Mahatma Ghandi was right, when he predicted it would take over the whole world!!
