MUSIC IS A MORAL LAW,
IT GIVES SOUL TO THE UNIVERSE
WINGS TO THE MIND.
FLIGHT TO THE IMAGINATION
A CHARM TO SADNESS
GAIETY AND LIFE TO EVERYTHING.
IT IS THE ESSENCE
OF ORDER AND LENDS TO ALL
THAT IS GOOD,JUST, AND BEAUTIFUL.
PLATO

So when we last spoke, The Tide was out and there was no end in sight!

After writing the last Blog, some ideas began to form during my evening aperitif at Clemenceau ( Pub/Restaurant where I am in the habit of orchestrating and ' fixing' ).

When I got home, I transferred my sketches for the two solo instruments to Sibelius on the computer.  There was no doubt that the end was in sight and to my enormous relief an end that would be conclusive to the whole work..i.e the two movements.

This is not traditional form for a Concerto, normally there are three movts as you may know but that is how it works best in this case

. Yesterday I worked really hard to finalise the end structure and what emerged was that the Soloists would end the work on their own except for the last few bars. The players will need to be really agile!!!! and of course I may have to rewrite some spread chords! after all, I am neither a Cellist or a Violinist but a Pianist.....a very different kettle of fish!! but that's ok.

THEN having taken several weeks to arrange this first rehearsal together with the two soloists, I received a telephone call this morning from the Violinist to cancel her participation until august!!  I took a deep breath.

Actually we have decided to continue in Monaco on Friday as planned so at least I can work with the Cellist....also.....I can take my Dog. A beautiful musical Hunting Dog whom I adopted 7 years ago after her removal by the authorities from a previous owner for abusive treatment. She is a Wagner fan these days and now very well. I'll let you know how it goes....Have a lovely evening all xx
