MUSIC IS A MORAL LAW,
IT GIVES SOUL TO THE UNIVERSE
WINGS TO THE MIND.
FLIGHT TO THE IMAGINATION
A CHARM TO SADNESS
GAIETY AND LIFE TO EVERYTHING.
IT IS THE ESSENCE
OF ORDER AND LENDS TO ALL
THAT IS GOOD,JUST, AND BEAUTIFUL.

So, here I am, trying to decide on a programme for the big Concert (already mentioned )for 2013. A Choral Concert in a huge space in the middle of our small town in the South of France.

This evening, I am pondering on and listening to the choruses of Wagner. I need to select two or three as the last item in the programme....sounds easy doesn't it?? probably it is but not when you are feeling like I am!! Nevertheless, by the end of the evening, I will have made a decision...subject to a scrutiny of the score of course when I can get hold of one.

Everyone around me is taking a holiday....one goes to the Cafe and there they are!... Myself? I go to the Cafe to check scores I've already written and to orchestrate .

The other evening, I invited Errol and his wife for an Aperitif. We had a splendid discussion. Errol is a very experienced Musician and Conductor and I respect his opinions . He asked to see Te Deum and with trepidation I brought it out! He was surprisingly encouraging and asked me a couple of questions from which I have learned rather alot!!!

I confessed I loved to go to the Cafe to orchestrate ...with all the people around me and didn't he think it was extremely strange? ' Don't worry Jil, Beethoven did it!!!' he said...   I felt much better about it after that!!

After I've sorted out these Choruses, there is one more item to decide upon...that's something more difficult. So far, I have come up with  excerpts from Bernstein's 'West Side Story' BUT , this may not be the final choice. Have a lovely evening all..xxx
