MUSIC IS A MORAL LAW,
IT GIVES SOUL TO THE UNIVERSE
WINGS TO THE MIND.
FLIGHT TO THE IMAGINATION
A CHARM TO SADNESS
GAIETY AND LIFE TO EVERYTHING.
IT IS THE ESSENCE
OF ORDER AND LENDS TO ALL
THAT IS GOOD,JUST, AND BEAUTIFUL.

Le Chant de Venus is a Viola Concerto that I have referred to before. I sketched it in 2004 and then worked on it as a Piano and Viola Piece with Joel Soultanian from Ensemble Orchestre de Paris. Joel was a great help to me in writing for the Viola for the first time.

During the following years, I was occupied with studying the huge subject of Orchestration, then eventually , about 18 months ago, I turned my attention to the Piano Score of the Viola Concerto again and began to orchestrate it.

Recently I submitted the ' completed '  Score to Pete....my Editor in London. We have been working on it for the last 3 or 4 months and it has been a very interesting and absorbing experience. I know that Joel ( the Violist ) wondered if I would ever finish this work!! He was justifiied!!

Imagine my excitement when finally two days ago, the edited first movement was ready!! Pete sent it to me on Sibelius ( the wonderful score making software) and I printed it off yesterday, took it to the shop where they normally cover and bind it in a very professional fashion and went to collect it this afternoon, ready for posting in  the morning.

I arrived at the shop...it was ready...I just checked the page numbers as I normally do and then..UGH!!  Half way through the score, several pages were UPSIDE DOWN!!! I could not believe this!! I took a few deep breaths and pointed it out.

The  fact is that the boss had left it to the ' new boy ' who does not have the experience. I left the shop somewhat depressed. Tomorrow, I will collect it again and with my equilibrium restored. I will say something appropriate along the lines that I do not expect the new office boy to be given something so important!!.

The point about this score is that Joel loves the work and will present it to the Ensemble de Paris to play ....I need a break like this!! Composition is hard work and solitary. Sometimes, we need the encouragement of some appreciation for that.

This evening I have been wondering why this actually happened?? I'm a great believer in that whatever manifests in one's ' reality' is within first!!I need to reflect on what the experience was really showing me !!. Have a good evening all xx
