MUSIC IS A MORAL LAW,
IT GIVES SOUL TO THE UNIVERSE
WINGS TO THE MIND.
FLIGHT TO THE IMAGINATION
A CHARM TO SADNESS
GAIETY AND LIFE TO EVERYTHING.
IT IS THE ESSENCE
OF ORDER AND LENDS TO ALL
THAT IS GOOD,JUST, AND BEAUTIFUL.

Since I am a Libran ruled by Venus, I naturally have a special interest in this epic and much discussed event and as I may have mentioned before, Music/Composition and Astronomy/Astrology all fit together for me.

You can read a whole lot of rubbish about this event on the Internet but if you go to the NASA site, you can discover some interesting animations and discussions. For the Astrology ( Symbolic Interpretation ), I can do no better than suggest www.cainer.com.

Last evening, I was wondering if there was any contribution I could make and it suddenly occured to me that there would be no better I could do at this time than repeat the ' meaning ' of Te Deum as it poured out during it's creation. I should explain what I mean here. I only write for words I am drawn to.

Welll! Here's an obvious statement!!!  ' Sound...Tone affects us' ...not only our ' ears' , not only our 'mood' but our whole Being!!  Just above, you will have seen the picture of the Human Chakra System, or I should say, a part of it, the part that is apparently resident ' in', 'around' the physical Body. So, do the Chakra's relate to particular sounds, notes or tones? and my answer is Yes and No, which is a tad confusing I will admit!!  ( This is only my opinion, admittedly based on some tangible  experience in my work as a Composer. )

TE DEUM.....
.I remember when I first started to become aware of Te Deum...the sensation was like a 'primordial' sound pulse, similar in feeling to being on the deck of a small sailing craft as a Liner passes some distance away, thus creating a ' Wake Wave'.

The first time I went to the piano to discover it, I very quickly created the introduction it wanted, using strings, horns and the magnificent Wagner Tuba marked (pp) ' lento penserioso'...thus creating an awesome feeling.

As often happens in creation, the music arrived prior to a close consideration of the text....In fact, the words' Te Deum' not only triggered the introduction but continued to resonate with me throughout the entire work....one could say that the two words are the hologram of the entire score

After the editing of Te Deum, a large Choral/Orchestral work with 4 soloists (which took a year or two,) my editor commented!! 'I think you should rewrite Te Deum ' .

You can probably imagine my feelings about that after writing the original Piano/Vocal score in 2000 and then spending a few years feeling my way into orchestrating my own works ( not something I studied in my youth ). I felt very downcast by this comment because I think so highly of Pete ( my editor ),  his experience and knowledge. I replied that it would be impossible for me to rewrite something that flowed so easily and naturally. It has been in a draw ever since!

Chant de Venus ( in the Music box ...right ) is the first movt of ' Rhapsody' for Viola and Piano and replaces the second movt which was on there recently.

The work is now a Concerto for Viola and Ochestra and is called ' Le Chant de Venus'. The Violist is Joel Soultanian from Ensemble Orchestre de Paris.
